This presentation shares the findings of a qualitative content analysis of the representations of urban in several young adult novels labeled urban street fiction. Scholars have recognized the potential of urban street fiction to capture reluctant readers. Thus, we will have an open discussion about urban street fiction and how English teachers might use selected novels in middle and high school classes.
